You may first notice it when a chair rocks, a ball rolls across the room, or the floor seems to dip as you cross a doorway. Once you feel it, it can be hard to ignore. But an uneven floor does not tell you by itself what moved, why it moved, or whether the condition is still changing. The finished floor is only the surface. The useful place to begin is with the materials and structure supporting it, along with the soil and water conditions around the building.

Another may have a low spot near a wall, a raised seam, a soft area, or a bounce that was not there before. A complete plan may begin with drainage and waterproofing corrections, continue through foundation or structural work, and finish with subfloor and flooring repairs. The actual sequence depends on the conditions documented at the property.
The finished floor should be the visible result of a repair that also addressed the support below it.
