Why Is My Floor Uneven?

But an uneven floor does not tell you by itself what moved, why it moved, or whether the condition is still changing. The finished floor is only the surface. Start With What the Floor Is Actually Doing

The condition appears in more than one adjoining room.
The change seems more noticeable after wet or dry weather.

A property owner may feel a soft or uneven area without being able to see the space below it. Moisture can affect subflooring, joists, beams, supports, or the bond between finish materials.
